Assistant Professor Position – Experimental Condensed Matter Physics

The UAB Department of Physics, https://www.uab.edu/cas/physics/, invites applications for an Assistant Professor tenure-track faculty position (9-month appointment) that will strengthen the Department’s program in Materials under Extreme Conditions. A qualified applicant will have a Ph.D. in Physics or a related field. Research areas of interest include (but are not limited to) dynamic compression of materials, laser shock compression and ultrafast diagnostics, and phase transitions in compositionally complex materials under extreme pressures, temperatures, and strain rates. The faculty member will become part of a newly awarded DOE NNSA Center of Excellence in additively manufactured complex systems under extremes in the physics department at UAB. We are looking for an innovative and inclusive new faculty member with an outstanding publication record and a strong commitment to excellence and diversity in research, teaching, outreach, and student research supervision at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
