A PhD position has opened at the Université de Lille, France. The work should start in the winter of 2024.
The project will focus on the effect of pressure, temperature, iron content, and strain rate on the plastic deformation of ferro-periclase (Mg,Fe)O. It is funded by the ANR collaborative grant MIN-DIXI. It will involve deformation experiment in large volume presses at synchrotron sources, laser-driven compression at free electron lasers, and electron microscopy.
